Lazy-i Best of 2003 Compilation Maybe I'm mellowing in my old age, but this year's collection of the best stuff I've heard and/or reviewed as part of my work with Lazy-I is a pretty easy-going walk through the park. Sure, there's a few hard ones in the basket, but most of this stuff is pretty goshdarn laid back. It wasn't exactly a good year for the rock (unless you like the White Stripes), but that doesn't mean it was a bad year for music. The story behind this year's tape case design: I received a Christmas gift that was basically a miniature shopping cart full of wine, cheese, that sort of thing. Teresa had the idea of filling it with CDs and taking a picture of one of the dogs (in this case, Sam) pushing it. It wasn't as easy as it sounds -- the dogs were less than eager to take part, as the pictures under the CD indicate. World-class designer Donovan Beery of eleven19.com did his usual amazing job. So who gets a copy? I make about 50 of them for friends, family and industry folks I've been in contact with throughout the year. It's a fun substitute for sending out Christmas cards. Want a copy?
